This project is being partly financed from funds left with the Royal Docks Trust by the former London Docklands Development - click here for more information about these funds.

The demolition of the original Kennnard Street Community Centre was completed some time ago. The new building is to comprise an Adult Learning and Training Centre at ground floor level with 19 flats on two floors for tenants of East Thames Housing above.  Work on the new building is already underway via a design and build contract between East Thames Housing and the contractor Higgins entrered into at the end of 2006. The work is expected to be completed in the late summer of 2008

The accomodation in the new Centre will include:

• Learn Direct IT suite: Available for courses with 'drop-in' learning centre
• IT suite: Available for courses
• Childcare training room
• High-tech multi-craft suite: With brazier, metal work tools, electric woodworking power tools, pottery kiln and tools and other craft equipment
• Textile suite: With sewing equipment, machines and cutting tables
• Two classrooms
